About Carol McGill
Carol McGill “painting in the Spirit”
“As an experimenter with a distinctive style, I nonetheless owe inspiration to Matisse for creative imagery and to Monet for plein air subtleties. Whatever the subject or means of expression lush oils are manipulated with a knife to create a work of passion and movement that I hope brings joy. My exploration often begins with an “after Pollock” layer or two and moves forward to an almost abstract subject. Creating colors of high contrast, as employed by van Gogh, is a component of my painting even though mixing almost every hue is also a part of my process.
Lowcountry Rhythms still take my breath away and I urgently respond to their call, hoping to capture their spirit.
